Supported by a £3 million grant from the Welsh Government, we’re giving the old Dwr Cymru Welsh Water site a major makeover! By the end of 2027, it will be transformed into affordable housing.
Everyone deserves a safe place to live, so we’re proud to be helping families, couples and individuals to put down roots in Bridgend.
What can customers look forward to?
- Eight one-bed flats
- Eight homes (two to four beds).
- Easy access to local shops and amenities.
- Family-friendly play areas.
- Bus routes and bicycle parking.

Building with a purpose: £30,000 for the community!
By building on empty land, we’re transforming a site that has become an eyesore in the community while addressing local housing needs.
We also want to make sure the benefits of the development are felt by the whole community. So, we’re investing:
- £20,000 in local outdoor sports and transport facilities
- £11,700 in local initiatives through our community benefits fund.
Can you help us decide where the money will go? Send your ideas to customervoice@v2c.org.uk: we’d love to know which causes matter to you!
Homes fit for the future
To reduce the environmental impact of the homes, we’re using ‘modern methods of construction’ to build them.
For example, to cut down on the amount of waste created when building on-site, we’ll manufacture timber frames in a factory, and assemble them on site instead (just like lego!)
The homes will also be fitted with air source heat pumps, which heat homes by taking warmth from the outside air instead of using fossil fuels. Not only is this better for the environment, heat pumps also lower customers’ energy bills, so everybody benefits.

Bringing you on the journey
Last week, we met you at the Three Horseshoes Community pub to answer your questions about the development and show you the site plans. It was great to hear your comments about the development, including “it’s good to see more social homes coming to the area” – we agree!
