Thinking about making some changes to your home?
We want to help you make your house a home, and sometimes that involves making a few changes! To make sure your home stays safe for you and for future residents, you’ll need to submit an alteration request before you get started.
Your contract states you must not erect, remove or make structural alterations to sheds, garages or any other structures in the dwelling without the consent of the landlord.
Please fill in a separate form for each alteration if there are multiple works you want to carry out.
Asbestos
Your home may contain asbestos materials. so you must contact us to seek permission before undertaking any works to your property. Please do not sand, drill or otherwise disturb wall or ceiling coatings (Artex), or remove or disturb floor tiles before contacting us to undertake an asbestos check.
Failing to get our consent or follow our conditions will mean you’re in breach of your occupation contract.
Find out more about asbestos safety here.
Planning permission or building control
Depending on the work you want to carry out, you may need planning permission or building control from Bridgend Council (BCBC). If this is the case, we will need to see copies of these documents before you start work. For example, we are not able to grant permission for the installation of dropped kerbs. You will need to apply directly to BCBC for this.
How do I get permission?
To submit an alterations request to us, complete our online form at the bottom of this page. To request a paper copy, email thehub@v2c.org.uk or call us on 0300 123 2100.
We’ll aim to respond to your alteration request within 14 days and if required, will ask for further information.
We have 30 days from the submission date (or from when we have requested further information) to either approve or decline your request.
