That’s why we’re teaming up with Crimestoppers to tackle anti-social behaviour on our doorstep, and help you feel confident reporting concerns.
About Crimestoppers
Crimestoppers allows you to report crimes 100% anonymously.
They are a charity completely separate from the police – and they’ll never take your details if you report an incident or provide information to them.
They also offer cash rewards of up to £1000 if your report leads to a successful outcome.
Please note – Crimestoppers is not an emergency service. In an emergency, you must always call the police on 999. Crimestoppers also doesn’t take information directly from victims of crime because they operate an anonymous service.
Spreading the word!
Crimestoppers offer a safer way to pass on essential information, so we’re proud to help them promote their service in our community. Last week, we headed to Caerau to put their signs up, raising awareness of their services.
Why Caerau?
We’re using data to guide our decision making, and South Wales Police received 53 reports of crime in Caerau alone this June.
Lianne Bulford, Head of Housing said:
“We know there are issues with ASB and crime in Caerau, but incidents are underreported. Therefore, we hope the Crimestoppers appeal will give communities the reassurance of confidentiality when reporting these incidents, like it did in Wildmill.”
Crimestoppers first erected signage in Wildmill in March 2024, and over the following two years, there was a 40% reduction in crime and ASB!
So what did the Caerau event achieve?
- Our caretakers successfully erected all of the signs!
- We hand delivered leaflets to residents in Blaencaerau.
- We strengthened our partnership with Crimestoppers and BCBC Community Safety Partnership, which is vital to tackling crime and ASB in our community.
