Over two weeks in March, we teamed up with local residents to collect a whopping 200 bags of litter. A huge thank you to everyone who joined us!

We want to do more than provide and manage homes; we want to support our communities to thrive. So, whenever we get the opportunity, we love working with you to give our streets a spruce up!

We kicked things off in Blaencaerau, getting stuck in in the shrubland and gathering enough litter to fill 45 bags. The next day in Bettws, we walked from Woodland Close up towards the local school and cleared another 46 bags of rubbish and bulky waste. It was hard work, but seeing our shared spaces looking clean and cared for made it worth it.

A week later, we headed to Wildmill, Old Brackla, Marlas, and Porthcawl, despite the wet weather! Across the four estates, we collected 126 bags of rubbish and some very random items, including a shopping trolley, a car bumper, and even a pram!

Over half of what we picked up was recyclable, which made us consider how we can better support our communities to recycle. If you’ve got any ideas, please email us at customervoice@v2c.org.uk! Remember, you check what’s recyclable – and what’s not – on Bridgend Council’s website.

While Spring Clean Cymru is an annual event, we’re committed to maintaining safe and clean spaces all year round – are you?

Remember, you can borrow our litter picking equipment free of charge. Just email litterpickinghub@v2c.org.uk to arrange a time to collect it from our office.
