Before Christmas, you filled in our survey to share your views about rent and service charges.
We can see from the responses that times are hard, but that only 32% of you are aware of the wider support we offer, including rent and financial support.
As you’ve now been informed of the upcoming rent increase, we want to make sure you know exactly how to access support if you need it.
About the rent increase
Rent is set in line with Welsh Government guidelines. Unlike some organisations, we don’t receive a dowry or direct funding from Welsh Government, so rent income is how we fund repairs, improvements and future investment in our homes. This year, most homes will experience a 4.3% rent increase, but will still remain well below private market levels. For example, a standard flat with us may cost around £400–£500 a month, compared to between £700 – £1000 for a private rental.
Since the survey, here’s how we’ve acted
- Everyone who responded and asked for support has been called back.
- We have also increased our Emergency Customer Assistance Fund by 20% for the 26/27 financial year.
- We’re committed to being present in communities where warm spaces are offered.
- Teamed up with Money Ready to organise a two-day accredited personal money management course.
How we can support you
- Contact your Community Income Partner directly; their number will be at the bottom of your letter, or call us on 0300 123 2100, and we’ll put you in touch. Our Income Partners can give you financial advice, support you with payment plans, or point you in the direction of grants, benefits and local support.
- Pop along to one of our rent roadshows this month, where you can speak to our Community Income partners in person. No appointments are needed, and we’ll have a cup of tea and a cake waiting for you. Find the dates and times here.
- Check out our support services leaflet for details of local financial organisations that can offer help and advice.
