We know how important it is to have well-maintained green spaces where you live, and we understand it can be unclear who is responsible for what.

So, we spoke to our Estates team and asked them your most common questions to clear things up:

What areas do we cut?

Our grounds maintenance contractors cut the grass within our ownership that is deemed as open space.

Maintaining the grass within your own garden or a shared communal garden is something that falls under your responsibility as a tenant, as outlined in your tenancy agreement. This allows you to care for it in a way that suits your preferences.

How often do we cut the grass?

13 times per cutting season. This is generally every 2-3 weeks during April-October, weather permitting.

Why don’t we cut and collect the grass?

To keep your service charges as low as possible.

Are the paths going to be edged and cleaned of moss?

We’re working on this – we’ll soon be out and about on our estates to carry out the general maintenance of our pathways

When will we cut back the shrubs?

Currently this is completed during the year, but we’re working on a programme where cutbacks will take place twice a year, typically between March-May and again between September-November.

What shrubs do we cut?

Those in our open spaces. Shrubs/hedges in a garden are the customer’s responsibility to maintain, as per the tenancy agreement.

How do I report a missed area or query about the open spaces?

Contact our friendly Hub on 0300 123 2100 with the details, including the exact location and query. The Hub will pass this on to our Estates team for action.
